Floorball Goalie Saves - Highlights #57 (Playoff 2, to Division 1)
Deciding game of Playoff2, unfortunately we didnt not manage to win the series this year! I also lost some footage yet again during the second period, hence a recording of the stream is shown.
I think I did a solid job during this game, I did my part to be honest, I was behind the contributing factor of our goals forward. However, we lost 6-2, and I am ofcourse extremely dissapointed. As usual, whats your view of my performance and the goals against me. Hit me with your best shot!
We will see what happens next season! If I change team or stay on with the same one! A lot can happen during the off-season and summer here in Umeå.

The first game of Playoff 2 against Moälven for a spot in the upcoming Division 1 Northern Sweden 24/25 season. Hi, I would say, it was almost 100% great performance from you. Really a lots of difficult situations, but solved excelently. 1st goal: No chance for you, opponents did great job. MAYBE and it is really MAYBE, when you are facing situation 2 on 0, go back to the net to make the distance from right to left (left to right) a bit "smaller". But it is really hard situation and basicly no chance for a goalie. 2nd goal: Again no chance. "Hidden" shots under the legs of defender with almost perfect placement. 3rd goal: Again no chance. I do not know what system you are playing for penalty killing, but I think it is second goal from same position. The #46 from your team did not have even player or ball or correct position, he "let" opponent to score. 4th goal: Slightly off the position, but I again, I do not know what is your strategy with the team, but the block from defending player basicaly put you out of play. The line of shot was blocked, your vision was blocked, only what you can do is "guess" what side of the net you should cover. Difficult situation for a goalie. 5th goal: Again difficult situation. You did everything you could, sadly, player #38 did not cover player or pass. 6th goal: Critical error of the defenders. Basically a 2 on 0 situation. I think that you should not be dissapointed, you did great job!!!

    Your save percentage was insane given the quality of the other team's shots. It seems like your defense just kept getting their lunch money stolen while trying to clear the ball. The only goal I think you were out of position was at 5:45. It happened quickly, but your teammate was screening the right side so you had to cheat a little more left. Also #37 on the orange team was terrible. Begs the ref at 2:12 for running over your teammate, then pushes him back to the ground as he gets up. Just scummy.

    • @FloorballGoaliePoV
      @FloorballGoaliePoV 13 днів тому

      Yea the shot at 5:45 is a position error. I think that is something that I havent talked that much about with our team, most of the times I always leave the right side more open. For example 0:35 here I position myself a bit better towards the left side, but I think that (and im just speculating here) that during the PP goal that the player would travel a bit further to the center before shooting since he had a lot of space to continue getting into a better position. Because most of the times I usually cover the first post and let the players run/follow the shooter towards the opposite further post. Yea #37, a real scumbag moove. To be honest, I think the ref should have called something on that situation since he retaliate or do a straggler action. You can hear our team reacting to the situation. I think most of the games where I am not in a good saving position is because the quality of the division im playing in is really weird. What I mean by that is the action and decision by both defending players and attacking players are a bit unexpected from time to time. Moreover, I think that in most cases I try to guard my self in to many different ways, for example (i have a player that could get a potential shot/scoring opportunity, but also I have 1 or 2 alternatives that the player can pass to. Instead of relying on my defense I try to set myself in a position to make a potential save at a higher percentage, which leaves me in a worse saving position for an initial shot. A bad habit that I have developed. When I practice with SSL teams I play in a totally different way.

    Well it was really hard match for you. Lots of shots, defence did not much help, in some situations. I think many of the goals were really hard for you because you did not have much chances to do anything about them. Some insights: 0:46, why you lowered your right hand? For better push to the right side? 5:05, your left hand is basicly "unusable", too low... in the moment of the shot, your left hand is "really low" so chances to be that fast are kinda low (in my opionion, the opponent should not be able to shoot in that situation - defender was too late there). Other than that really nice saves, some were really hard. I really like your fast hands and ability to recover after initial save to catch the ball. 6:32, that was just superb! And 6:50 was just great reading of the shooter and really nice save. And top of that 2 assists, nice! Great job!

    • @FloorballGoaliePoV
      @FloorballGoaliePoV 15 днів тому

      Yea exactly, I usually lower my hand if I dont think that the shooter has a possibility to do a quick release/shot. And to be able to cover the ground more easily to the left (Since that is the side I am unable to do proper external rotation on with my leg. Moreover, as you said to get a quick push if needed (since my defenders were backchecking him pretty hard, expected him to do some kind of left or right movement. Yea its rendered useless there, and to be honest, that is a shot that most players dont take xD. Dont even know what you call that type of shot haha. He swinged his club while running. A really awkward finish that you dont stumble upon that often. Really nice goal though, I prepared myself to keep tracking the players movement. Thanks for the comment, respectful and good points that you bring up =)

    6:32 personally find casually catching a long range shot very satisfying. Then give the opponent a little stare afterwards "you thought that would work?" :D Great saves, mate!

    • @FloorballGoaliePoV
      @FloorballGoaliePoV 15 днів тому

      Haha yea, I should do as my goalie partner. He usually gives the shooter a thumbs up if they do a really bad decision shot, which has 0% change of going into the net.

  • @Floydos85
    @Floydos85 21 день тому

    This was really great performance. The shots looked "easier", but mostly because you were at correct position. Really great job! Just a question. Given the situation before 1st goal, did you consider to "not use own legs" as "barrier" against cross pass (given that your defender was in correct position) and instead that, keep the position on the near post with torso "aiming" at the most dangerous player (in that situation the scorer)? Sometime you have a slightly higher chance that you can react to the shot. But again, really great performance. Nice saves, great recoveries after saves, excelent throws. I really enjoyed that! Keep it up. And again question: Did you and your team consider attending Czech Open tournament in Czechia in August 8-11?

    • @FloorballGoaliePoV
      @FloorballGoaliePoV 21 день тому

      I actually thought about that when I went through my video afterwards. Usually I'm very good at reading the cross passes and denying that move. But I must have misread the opponent, since I had it in my back head that they love to use that crossover pass (We've played against them 3 matches before this game) But since I'm commiting to the cross, Im selling myself short completely, So its a decision error from my part. However, a box should not leave a player open like that in my opinion. Its okey if he would have gotten that shot a bit more to the right of the goalie box. Getting it a bit high, just right of the central line is a really good goal scoring area. Moreover, I think that the shot would have gone past my left hip, by looking at how he placed it. As usual, lots of stuff to analyse. I think they did a really good job with creating the chance there.

    • @FloorballGoaliePoV
      @FloorballGoaliePoV 21 день тому

      No I do not think IBS Dalen is considering any tournaments or cups abroad or far away from Umeå. Every pre-season Umeå hosts a tournament called Scandic Cup, which is a really solid cup to begin the season with. And it might be so that I am moving to another team for the coming season, in a higher division.

    • @Floydos85
      @Floydos85 21 день тому

      @@FloorballGoaliePoV I would not say it is error. You did choose the option that was related to the experience by playing against this opponent team before. Thing is that, when you do cover only the post and chest aiming at the scorer, you can move out from the line towards the shooter to get some chance that it will hit you or ball will hit your hip etc etc. But yep, the shooter was basicly alone with no defenders covering him... so chances to do a save were really low.

I use liquid detergent made for sport combined with a homemade fabric softener (Vinegar/Water/Essential oils) Synthetic wash program (low RPM and low temperature) The stuff that I wash regulary: - Kneepads - Protection vests - Goalie Pants - Protection cup - Gloves (I handwash these quite often instead of using a washing machine) Also, during this season, I had to wash my goalie jersey I bit more often, but I try not to wash the pants/jersey that often.

      Yea and sometimes you underestimate how little you actually have to move. Ofcourse this has a lot to do with players speed and movement. But I have noticed that move a little bit to much from time to time. However, I think I do that most of the times since I expect my defender to take a little bit of the angle towards the far post side.

    My view of the goals: 1st = really hard situation for the goalie. MAYBE, really MAYBE if he would be a little more agressive... overall definetly not a goalie mistake or bad decision. 2nd = goalie´s mistake, from that angle, it should not be posible to allow goal over the right shoulder on far post. 1st mistake was at the moment, when Oscar put his left arm on the ground, so he lowered his stance. 2nd mistake (and it is hard to do it) is that he remained "on the goal line", goalie coach trying to teach us that when shooter or player with a ball leaves the area "behind the goal line", we (goalies) should copy his movement by movement on small crease. 3rd = just a bad luck, but still Oscar in the moment when defender "scores", did not even start the movement "with the ball". But definelty not a Oscar´s mistake. Only mistake I see is the stance near the post again, with hand down and weight on it. 4th = good shot, but at the moment when ball leaves the stick, Oscar is not at the "Shooting line", he is maybe 40-50 cm from it at left side. So given that the shot was really nice, Oscar basicly has no chance. 5th = again bad luck for Oscar. He deceided to use hand to block the pass, not the right leg. Hard decision, I would make same decision as he did. 6th = Oscar did maximum he could to catch the ball, sadly for him, opponent´s player did a great job. Mistake by defence. 7th = no chance for Oscar, it was situation 2 on 1 and defender did not stop ball or player, so he can score from his own rebound. Definetly defender´s mistake. Overall, Oscar did a good job, many saves he did were hard and really nice.

      Thats a very in-depth and good analysis. There are lots of ways to think about a goal and the situation around it. But as you state in several of the goals. You as a goalie can do small things to prevent a goal even if there is primarily a defending error that caused it. And I know from my own experience that I look at goals completely different from gameday to the days after.

    • @Floydos85
      @Floydos85 Місяць тому

      @@FloorballGoaliePoV Well, it is analysis that my goalie coach does after all my recorded matches. And even I can analyse myself from the video, becuase I can see things much better than in the crease, where I think that I was in optimal position but reality is different. Well, sometimes goalie is basicly thrown to the pit when defence makes error. Not even critical one, but still... Btw.: didn´t you and your team think about attending Czech Open tournament in Czech Repubic?

    Great work! I think your performance was really nice. Goals #1-#3 was really hard to catch. 1st you were screened, 2nd it was defender´s mistake that he left the player near the crease "alone", 3rd was again mistake by defending player that has nor player nor blocking the shot. 4th one was hard too, maybe you had a little bit lower stance (I do not know how tall you are though), but the shot itself was really nice placed. 5th one was really nice aimed hard shot, overall hard to catch, when shooter has so many time to aim. 6th one again screened, hard to react in time. Overall great job, 33 shots are not a low number to face.

      Regional division (as the one I play in) end at Division 2 level. Regional divisions can go as low as division 5. Then you have the Swedish floorball federation which has Division 1, Allsvenskan and then SSL.

    If I may offer constructive criticism as a fellow goalie who has been goaltending for over 20 years and has been actively training with a goalie coach for 4 years. First of all, I really like your work near the goal posts. There is nothing to complain about there. What I don't really "like" is the "non-florbal" solving of some situations. In particular, on the first goal you had your legs in reverse, which means you always have space on the near post. At the left post you're perfectly fine, it's the right post stance that makes the problem. Otherwise, great saves, I like your aggressiveness after catching the ball. Yeah, one goal was after that a defender made a mistake and stopped playing. One was an own goal, which just happens. And that last goal could maybe been solved by being more aggressive on a ball that went very close to the small crease. But otherwise I really like your catching style, great job, keep it up!!!

      @@RVAFloorballWell, not always, because with the extended leg you get „locked“ in the stance and moving in the direction of the outstretched leg is almost impossible. Our goalie coach wants us to stay in the basic stance as long as possible because then it's easier and faster to move sideways. But personally, I think it's up to each goalkeeper because we're all different.

Also at 5:33 looks from this angle like its 2 min but hard to see if its three meters. You had some great saves. great movement and your crazy Mobile. Great video cant wait to see more. • @Floydos85

    I have to say, that I kinda does not understands the "too relaxed" behaviour of the goalie. The ball is still in play close to the net and he is standing, even sometimes does not even watch the ball. There always is posibility of losing the possesion of the ball or some critical error of the player... Why to risk that much? On the other hand, some of the saves were really nice... good positioning, move control.

    • @FloorballGoaliePoV
      @FloorballGoaliePoV 3 місяці тому

      Haha yea that is my goalie partner. He is a bit to relaxed sometimes before he gets into position. It has cost him goals from time to time :P But it usually depends on the situation of the game, because some of the game, we completely dominate.

    • @Floydos85
      @Floydos85 3 місяці тому

      @@FloorballGoaliePoV Yep, but still, even when you completly dominate, it would be nice to "stay focused" to have chance to "have better stats" :) So far, when I was watching your videos, when Oscar was in the net, he seems that "I do not care what is happening near the net" :) Like the situation at 0:56, defenceman under pressure, and he is standing, not paying attention to the game and comunicating with bench :) As a goalie trainer my self, I would "kick him into the butt", for this :) On the bright side, I really like his movement and motion control, and fast hands. But a few "advices" from goalie to goalie. I do not like the "resting hands on the ground“, like in 1:20, which led to the goal. In the moment of the shot at 1:23 he has full weight on the left hand, which make unpossible to react to the shot. Which is "pitty" when, with full body up and left hand not touching the ground, it would be an easy save. And maybe 3rd goal, I personaly would be a much more aggresive. When receiving the pass, shooter is not looking at the net or goalie and watching the "ground and ball", fast push and using legs like "scissors“... and I think striker is "dead" and goalie has the ball :)

      @@Floydos85 You are 100% correct and I would say those types of game are good practices to just develope that focus. I can say that I act the same from time to time, not as much, but I have to admit that I am guilty of being a bit relaxed from time to time. And that's why its good to record yourself and get that feedback for yourself. Sometimes I question myself, "why did I even do that?"

    • @Floydos85
      @Floydos85 3 місяці тому

      @@FloorballGoaliePoV "why did I even do that?" is my often reaction after conceding a goal :) Videos are nice "feedback" and my goalie partner and really tallented goalie who attends even goalie camps and goalie trainings with "national team" goalie coaches, makes feedbacks to me too. Yes, I´m a bit old (38) and currently Im No.1 goalie in our reserve team, because goalies in the A-Team are 20 years younger :) and I was starting in net relatively lately (at age 17) and all my goalie skills are self taught (So my style is kinda full of the bad habits etc.), the feedback is basicly my "base line" to what focus on and what to try eliminate from my goaltending.
